Blessings of the Gospel of Christ in our Family

I hoped all of our Latterday Saint friends enjoyed General Conference this last week-end. My favorite parts of Conference were the parts that Vera napped through. It was great to pause from our busy weekend and focus on learning from the Prophet, the Apostles, and most importantly from the Spirit. While there were many amazing messages shared at this Conference, I wanted to use this post to share my personal testimony of Christ and to share more about how this Gospel of Christ has blessed our little family recently.
Charity is my favorite lesson to learn. I have had that lesson so often throughout my life's experiences. It can be difficult to feel charity while stressed, in traffic, and while changing your crying baby's horrible diaper. But those are the moments when charity matters most. It has been though charity that my faith in Christ has grown. Through very personal experiences I have learned of God's love for me as His daughter. It has been through recognizing others as God's beloved children that gives me the motivation to serve and to withhold unfair judgment. It has been through understanding God's love for all His children that I understand the plan of salvation and the roll of the restoration of the gospel in these modern times. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves us all. I know He provides us a way to learn of Him through ancient and modern prophets. And I want to get better at expressing this to those I love, especially to my husband and daughter.
I also want to share just a few experiences we have had in the last few weeks where this gospel has blessed us. Three weeks ago, Tom and I were able to attend my brothers wedding in the temple. The morning he was to be married, I got a bad stomach bug. I prayed that I would be able to attend, but that if I wasn't meant to go, that least my family could have that special experience with my brother and his bride. A minute before it began I felt I would be ok. With no mishap I was able to witness my little brother be sealed for eternity to his sweetheart. I know that their decision to be sealed in the temple will effect their lives forever for the best. The next blessing I wish to share was a blessing given two weeks ago to our baby girl, Vera. She had the stomach bug I had, but it hit her much harder than it did me. Being new parents, Tom and I didn't know how to take care of a puking infant. I was so scared because all the doctor had told me to do wasn't working. That night, after another changing of the sheets and a new nightie, I held Vera as Tom gave her a priesthood blessing. Through the promptings of the Spirit he told her she would get well and that her parents would take care of her and that she would continue to learn and to grow. That blessing did more to comfort me at the time. Through patience and pedialyte Vera did get better.
